Website Migration
-
Q: What does the website migration service involve? Will my website be safe?
A: If your present web hosting provider can no longer answer the requirements of your web site, or when you go through regular network downtime, or if you are forced to wait for hours for the tech support staff to get back to you, it might be a smart idea to change your hosting provider, i.e. to transfer all the files for your websites together with your databases from your present provider to your future provider. At Web Hosting World, we are aware that this can often be hard & time–consuming. That is why we’ll accomplish all that for you at no cost! Our qualified technical staff members will transfer your website content from your present web hosting provider to us. Our technicians have lots of experience with website migration and can handle everything – from a common WordPress–based weblog or Joomla™–driven site, to a highly elaborate, custom–built application.
-
Q: Web site migration sounds like lots of work. How long can it take?
A: There are plenty of aspects to keep in mind – the overall amount of web files, the size of the database, the complexity of the website itself and the present workload of our web site migration experts, etc. However, we do our best to implement all website migrations within a 48–hour time period. Smaller–sized websites are migrated much faster – typically in under 24 hours.
-
Q: My privacy is vital to me. What details do you need?
A: We don’t gather any private data. We’ll need, however, the login info for your present web hosting account along with the name of the website that you want to move.
-
Q: The login info for my hosting account is delicate. How can I rely on you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an inseparable part of the agreement that we will have with you as a client. We are committed to safeguarding the security of the private data obtained from the customers. To do so, we employ technical safety measures in order to prevent the loss, the misappropriation, the alteration or the unlawful disclosure of the private information under our control. The measures include, but are not limited to: physical, digital and managerial procedures to protect and secure the data that we assemble on the Internet. When we ask clients to present financial info (for example, a credit card number), this info is encoded using the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption method.
-
Q: Will there be any downtime for my site?
A: While we migrate your website, it will be available both in your hosting account with us and in your account with your old hosting provider. As soon as the migration is complete, we’ll make sure that everything is functioning correctly and that the integrity of your content is not jeopardized before informing you that the migration is completed. Then we will explain to you how to move the domain name over to your web hosting account with us and how to modify your DNS resource records.
-
Q: Will my old web hosting provider need to do anything?
A: Nah. We’ll never contact your hosting provider about anything at all. They will not be aware of the website transfer either.
-
Q: Does it make any difference what platform my present hosting provider is using?
A: We can migrate your web site from any hosting provider or any Linux–powered hosting platform so long as we can receive access to the Control Panel and there’s File Transfer Protocol access available. The only web sites that we’re unable to transfer are the ones based on closed–source software applications such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square and Mr Site.
